What is Fresh Surface?
Fresh Surface is a Web based company, offering original, signed artwork at affordable prices. Providing an online marketplace for artwork outside of the traditional, expensive gallery system, Fresh Surface allows customers with smaller budgets but discerning tastes to own unique, one-of-a-kind pieces of art. The Fresh Surface site also features an editorial section, Surface Area, highlighting art news and exhibitions. Fostering a digital arts community, Fresh Surface takes original artwork outside the confines of the traditional arts industry and into the homes or personal space of any interested and discerning party.

Who are the Fresh Surface Artists?
The artists on Fresh Surface are selected for their high-quality original work. We currently sell work from four mediums: Drawing, Painting, Photography, and Prints. Our artists are mostly emerging artists, meaning they typically do not have a huge amount of mainstream arts industry exposure at this point in their careers, but are producing very impressive bodies of work. Who knows? You may discover the next big thing within our online galleries! We provide an artist bio on each individual artist page, so you can learn a little more about each artist and in turn, about the work you are purchasing. In our blog, Surface Area, we include information concerning exhibitions around the world featuring Fresh Surface artists.

What is your submissions policy?
We welcome all types of artists to submit work to Fresh Surface. Please visit our For Artists page for further information and guidelines on submitting work.

What is Surface Area?
Surface Area is the editorial (yes, a blog) section on our website, which features links, news, reviews and exhibition information pertaining to the wide, wonderful world of art. It is updated every Thursday so you can get your weekend art on, and drop in on fabulous (and sometimes free!) openings throughout the week. And occasionally learn a little something about new artists.


Buying Art, Shipping, and Returns

How do I purchase art from Fresh Surface?

At Fresh Surface you can browse for your purchases in a number of ways. Located on our homepage, near the bottom of the page, you will find three searching methods: Medium, Price, or Size. Or you can simply click the colored buttons (always at the top of the page) to browse through the various mediums. Once you are in a specific medium you can click on a particular work of art and it will bring you to that artist's portfolio, where, if he or she has more work available for sale, you will be able to see all of the art. We also offer you the ability to build your own gallery with us. Once you create a Log In name and password on our homepage, you can place works of art you are interested in (but not completely sure you would like to purchase yet) in an online gallery, which is for your eyes only. However, your gallery is able to be emailed to whomever you would like to view it (second opinions never hurt). Once you have selected one or more pieces of art for purchase, and added them to your shopping cart, you can then proceed to Checkout, where you'll be asked to provide standard billing information, e.g., name, billing address, credit card number, etc. When you've provided all the pertinent info, you'll be provided with a detailed list of the art you have chosen to buy, and for security's sake will be asked one last time to authorize your purchase. We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express.

Is it safe to use a Credit Card to purchase goods on this website?
It's absolutely safe. The Fresh Surface website uses advanced encryption technology and a secure server (SSL) to transmit your online order and ensure that your credit card information is secure. Please note: For your safety, we do not store your credit card information once a sale is authorized.

How long will it take for me to receive my purchase?
You will receive a personal email from a Fresh Surface customer service representative within one business day of placing your order to let you know that we have successfully received your order. We ship exclusively with UPS, and we will send you another email as soon as your artwork has shipped. Most artwork is ready to ship from our office immediately, but exceptionally large artwork is not kept on the premises, and requires additional shipping time. You will be notified of this in a seperate email from us.  Typically, large artwork takes about 2 weeks to ship out.  We will keep you up to date at all times about the status of your order.

What is the return policy of Fresh Surface?
If you are not happy with your purchase, you can return it to Fresh Surface for a full refund within ten days of receipt of work. The customer is responsible for the cost of return shipping.

Here's what to do:

You must notify us that you plan to return the artwork within ten days of receiving it by either sending an email to info@freshsurfaceart.com or calling customer service at (212) 695-7570. We will tell you what to do from there. Be sure to hold on to the original packaging materials; we only accept returns that are packaged exactly as they were sent to you.

What should I do if my artwork arrives damaged?
If you can tell by looking at the box that the artwork has been damaged in shipment, do not open it. If you do discover damage, email us immediately at info@freshsurfaceart.com and we will explain how to proceed.

Do you ship internationally?
Yes, we do ship internationally, although please be advised that all duties and border taxes are the responsibility of the purchaser/customer. Of course, just as with shipments within the U.S., if you have any concerns or special delivery needs, please email us at info@freshsurfaceart.com, or call our customer service department at (212) 695-7570.

Will I be charged sales tax?
Purchasers requesting delivery within the State of New York agree to pay all applicable sales tax due on the sale of the Artwork, Product(s) and/or Service(s). Effective June 1, 2003, NYS and NYC sales tax rate have changed to a combined NYC rate of 8.375%. Purchasers outside of the State of New York do not pay sales tax on orders.

What are your shipping options?
As previously mentioned, we ship exclusively with UPS. Upon checkout you will be asked to choose your preferred UPS method of shipping time length and cost.

Can I track my order once I make a purchase?
Yes. Please save your shipping confirmation email, as that will contain your personal tracking number for your order. If you do delete the email (hey, it happens to us all), we will be happy to re-send it to you if you email us at info@freshsurfaceart.com.

When will my credit card be charged?
Although your credit card account's funds will be held at the time of purchase, we will not officially charge your account until the work has shipped.
